Sunn O))) + Om - Koko, Camden, London - Monday, 14 December 2009

Sunn O))) + Om
Koko, Camden, London
Monday, 14 December 2009

We had been to an office party earlier so were late arriving and I only caught the last piece by Om.

Sunn O)))

01 prelude
This is my title for a piece of pre-recorded orchestral music that was played before Sunn O))) appeared. It was fairly quiet and you will hear a lot of chatter over the top of it - more chatter than music in fact.
02 Agharta (now I've actually bought the CD, I know the set was basically Monoliths & Dimensions and Agharta is only a part of that)
Sorry if you were hoping to burn this to CD. Even if you get rid of the prelude, the set runs to just over 80 minutes without a break.

I have a few video clips as well. I'll try and get round to uploading them one day. (Well I'll only upload them if anyone asks. I was quite far away and the dry ice effects were a bit OTT so you can't see much anyway.)
11 August 2012.  Image added.  It is no included in the downloads.

UPDATE 31/07/2015

The Sunn O)) set - along with many of their other shows - is now available for download here:

Many many thanks, I've been months searching for a Sunn O))) bootleg from their European Tour. I saw them in Madird and it was amazing. I'vw only been able to find other Bootleg from their tour here:

The sound is much worse than yours but it also comes with video.

Thanks again.

Thanks Aristodrigo. It's always good to hear from a satisfied customer. And thanks for the link, I'll check it out. I had not seen them before (not that you could see much through all the dry ice) but it was a memorable evening and I'll look out for them infuture.

Actually, that's not quite the set-list either. This is a recording from their Monoliths & Dimensions tour, but on that tour, they weren't actually playing Monoliths & Dimensions. They were playing Agarthi, which aside from some similar themes and motifs, is very different. They recently released an LP of this material, but it is EXTREMELY limited (1000 copies, all surely gone by now), and is incomplete. There is about 30 extra minutes of material here that isn't on the LP (my favorite parts of the piece are here in their extended form), and that's not including the Void Ov Voices intro.

In my opinion, the performance on this recording is better than the ones on the LP. Phil, thanks for the great recording! I have several bootlegs from this tour, and this one is my favorite--even more so after a small clean up in sound-booth.

Here's the set-list:

-Descent/Ascent
-A/Interior I/Eye
-H&G (Foraging)
-Church Dust

Thanks again man!

Thanks Josh. I only discovered Sunn O))) relatively recently and am happy to concede that others will know their material much better than I do.

The acoustics are quite good at Koko (I wish I could say the same about the sight lines) so I don't think this is a bad recording for a portable device. Of course it can't capture the parts of the performance that have to be felt as well as heard.

Cheers,
Phil
