Triptych: The Music of Eliane Radigue
The music was fairly quiet and builds up gradually from silence. The mic was set to high gain. This means it picked up a lot of unwanted sound e.g. microphone scraping against my jacket, creaking seats. The venue is a church and so is not as soundproof as a traditional concert hall. External sounds (emergency vehicle sirens etc.) intrude from time to time.

Thank you very much for this !
I've been scanning the web for weeks to find recording of this event.
too bad you didnt atend Psi 847 !
Michel
These were the only performances I knew about in advance, because I'm on a mailing list for this particular venue and they didn't mention the performances elsewhere. And with the best will in the world I couldn't have got to everything. Video recordings were being made so maybe a DVD will emerge one day.

Thank you so much for posting these. I got to Trilogie de la Mort but had to travel from Scotland to do so. Very much appreciated. Great to get a chance to hear The Lappetites version of Elemental II and Occam I
Hi Phil, I would really like to say thanks for these recordings but they are mind crashingly difficult to listen to. You seems to be really up for making good bootlegs for sure, and I'm so sad to not be able to hear Naldjorlak again, so apologies for presumptuous advice but here goes: have you considered trying recording using two small omni lapel-mics (lavalier microphones), instead of hiding the whole aparatus inside your jacket.
Two tiny black mics pinned to the outside of your jacket (either shoulders ideally, but on either lapel would do) this would be invisible, would not rustle, and would be clear clear clear sound. It works wonderfully, honestly. Try it.
good luck
Thanks. I'll think about investing in lapel mics. Most of the time the internal mic gives a good enough result. Bu these were especially challenging performances to record. Meanwhile I must try and get my head round the spectral cleaining facility in Magix. I think that should enable me to eliminate the worst of the extraneous noise.
Hi Phil, thanks for not taking it badly, I dont mean to whinge, just loved this concert! Easier to get it in the original recording than a later clean up, theres only so much noise reduction can do, missing high freq detail will never be recoverable.
I've used Sanken and DPA. but really any inexpensive little omni lavalier will open up the detail hugely from being muffled under fabric. Hope you get to borrow some to check it out, you'll be surprised, I certainly was first time I heard the sound image from a pair of lavaliers.
Cheers
hello, thanks for posting this and even more thanks in case your rmight repost this!
Great Work...
